How to use this site

icxrays.org

I have created this website myself using Squarespace.

There is no registration requirement and the site is free for all to use.

Any opinions expressed in this site are my own.

Background

This is where you are now. It has two sections.

The first deals with the role of the interpreting radiographer, and its limits. It makes some suggestions about ways to do the job better and includes an intorduction to FILMS.

Unless you are experienced in image interpreation already and have good relationships with the caregivers in your hospital, I recommend that you read all the posts here.

The second is for interest, and describes the history of the project behind the website.

Cases

This is a series of image collections where you have a chance to look at an image, and then follow the interpretation process (as done by me, a radiologist), through to a report, mostly using FILMS.

I invite you to send me an image to share in Cases. It might be a good example of something unusual, or it might be a difficult image that you would like some help with. If you know the final answer for that patient, please send that too.

Depending on demand and interest, I will add it to Cases with my comments so that others can learn from it. There are some terms and conditions for this process, which you can read via this Link.

All images reviewed in Cases will acknowledge the sender and their location. You can use initials or a nickname if you do not want your name to appear.

I look forward to the challenge of your images. I expect to learn a lot from this process, especially as I lack your experience with disease which I don’t see in my New Zealand practice.

Please note though that this site is for general learning, and I cannot provide an acute reporting service!

Topics

This is a library of PowerPoint presentations, based on talks which I have given at the workshops. There is a large amount of information here, spread over more than 1200 slides on 34 topics.

Think of Topics as a modern textbook, for reference and for background.

When I buy a new textbook, I read it from end to end - not to try and remember everything in it, but so that I know where I can go to look something up when I need to.

Contact

This is the route for sending an image via email for consideration for Cases, or to send me a message. I hope that you enjoy the site and I will always welcome comments and suggestions for improvement.
